Two Banks of Four (since 2008 also written as 2 Banks of 4 ) is a Nu-Jazz band project founded in London in 1998 around singer and DJ Rob Gallagher and producer Dilip Harris .
Band history
The origins of the band lie in the acid jazz band Galliano, which was founded in 1988 . When, after four studio albums, a remix and a live album, Galliano broke up in the late 90s with the decline in popularity of acid jazz , Gallagher and Harris first devoted themselves to other projects, followed by the nu-jazz project "Two Banks of Four ". The singer Valerie Étienne, who was already active with Galliano and Jamiroquai , is involved in the latest production, Junkyard Gods . Also involved in the productions are Ski Oakenful and the singers Paul Fredricks and Bembe Segue.
Two Banks of Four experiment with different forms of jazz ( modal jazz ) and electronica. They have released four albums so far; the 2008 album will be released in Europe on the Sonar Kollektiv label .
