Sonar Kollektiv is a Berlin independent label with an affiliated publisher and a worldwide distribution network.
The label was founded by the Berlin DJ and producer team Jazzanova in 1997. The collective originally consisted of various sub- labels that set different priorities and worked together as a collective. These included Dialog, Airdrops, No Zession, Recreation, Mermaid, Best Seven, Hotdrops and Aspects. One by one these were dissolved. Sonar Kollektiv publishes music from the areas of NuJazz , Soul , Jazz , Pop , House , Electro , Techno Reggae , Folk and Dubstep, among others .
From 2005 to 2006 there was a cooperation with the Berlin label Innervisions .
The artists Âme , Roland Appel , Atjazz , Rogall , Eva Be , Stee Downes , Fat Freddy's Drop , Robert Galic , Clara Hill , Jazzanova , Ben Klock , Marcin Kozlowski , Georg Levin , Micatone , Tobi Neumann , Christian have on Sonar Kollektiv Prommer , Ulrich Schnauss , Benny Sings , Siriusmo , Mladen Solomun and Trickski published. The new artists of the Berlin label include u. a. Neve Naive, Phil Gerus, Hot Coins, EnaWadan, Paskal & Urban Absolutes as well as FETSUM and a new project by Jah Wobble . Eric Wahlforss released his first recordings under the stage name Forss in 2003 , shortly before he founded Soundcloud .
Sonar Kollektiv released a number of compilations : Secret Love , Best Seven Selections , ... mixing , ... broad casting and Computer Incarnations For World Peace .
The Sonar Kollektiv Orchester , consisting of musicians from the label itself and from its immediate environment, was founded to mark its tenth anniversary . Volker Meitz took over the production and the arrangement of the SKO. The fifteenth anniversary of the label was celebrated on October 12, 2012 in the Volksbühne Berlin .
