Galliano was an acid jazz band founded in London in 1988 around singer and DJ Rob Gallagher (* 1966, alias Rob Galliano alias Earl Zinger). The band was a loose association of musicians.

Band history

In 1988 Galliano joined the newly founded label Talkin 'Loud , where the debut single Frederick Lies Still appeared a year later . In addition to Gallagher, singer Constatine Weir, drummer Crispin Robinson, Mick Talbot from Style Council and other changing musicians belonged to the formation.

The British had their most successful period in the early 1990s, when they were represented in the British charts with two albums and six singles and performed in front of 100,000 spectators at festivals such as Rock am Ring or in Montreal. Her greatest success during this time was the top 10 album "The Plot Thickens", which sold over 300,000 times, with her interpretation of the Crosby, Stills and Nash classic Long Time Gone , which made it to number 15 on the charts as a single came.

After four studio albums as well as a remix and a live album, the project broke up in the late 90s with the decline in the popularity of acid jazz. The various musicians devoted themselves to other projects. Since then, Rob Gallagher has continued to perform as a solo artist under the name Earl Zinger .

The former Galliano members Rob Gallagher, Valerie Étienne and Ski Oakenful founded the Nu Jazz project Two Banks of Four in 1998 together with the music producer Demus (including Young Disciples, Numbers) and, since 2008, 2bo4 .
