The Dolmen Tapada del Anta is located southwest of Valencia de Alcántara , near the border with Portugal which the Rio Sever forms here, in Extremadura in Spain .

Tapada del Anta is a well-preserved small very graceful Dolmen in the local style with mutually supportive, inwardly inclined orthostats of granite and a capstone. On a hill, seven stones form a chamber more than two meters high and about 4.5 meters in diameter with the remains of a short passage and the tumulus .

In the vicinity of Valencia de Alcántara lie the approximately four dozen dolmens of Valencia de Alcántara , one of the most important dolmen ensembles of the megalithic culture in Spain. The dolmens, divided into three groups, are dated to the Neolithic and Copper Age. More than 30 are made of large granite, the rest of slate . The monuments of Valencia de Alcántara, including the equally graceful dolmen "Huerta de las Monjas" and the "Dolmen Tapada del Anta 2" and "La Miera", have different shapes and states of preservation.

These are burial sites that were richly furnished with grave goods. These included carved and polished objects, ceramics, jewelry and anthropomorphic idols, most of which are kept in the Museum of Cáceres .
