Peñagache dolmen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dolmen of Peñagache (also called Mamoa da Portela do Pau or Mota Grande) is located west of Verea near Bangueses in the province of Ourense in Galicia in Spain , like the dolmen of Maus de Salas near the border with Portugal .

The polygonal dolmen of Penagache is at an altitude of 1257 m. The remainder of the chamber consists of five upright supporting stones. There is a zigzag engraving on one of the bearing stones . The ceiling tile does not seem to match the other materials. It is believed that it was applied to protect the engraving.

To the east stands the Menhir Pedrafita das Catro Cruces. It owes its name to the four crosses that are engraved on the four sides of the monolith. It serves as a separation between the parishes of Calvos and Corvelle (gang) and Cexo and Banqueses (Verea).
