Oulu Cathedral

The Oulu Cathedral ( Finnish: Oulun tuomiokirkko ) is a Lutheran cathedral in the Finnish city ​​of Oulu .

The first church on this site was built in 1771 in honor of the Swedish King Gustav III. built. She was named Sofia Magdalena after his wife. It burned down in the town fire of 1822 and was rebuilt on the old foundations according to designs by the German-Finnish architect Carl Ludwig Engel . The interior of the church now houses Finland's oldest oil painting.
