Don't Hug Me I'm Scared is a British web series produced by filmmakers Rebecca Sloan and Joseph Pelling from 2011 to 2016. There were six episodes that were published on YouTube and Vimeo . The series combines puppetry and computer animation with humorous horror elements.

content

The basic concept of each episode is that the main characters Yellow Guy, Red Guy and Duck Guy sing nursery rhymes about everyday subjects. In the course of the song it often becomes clear that the moral or message is nonsensical or contradicting and that the educational ulterior motive is mostly negative and dark. The climax of each episode contains an element of shock, sometimes with a hint of violence.

production

Sloan and Pelling met while studying fine arts and animation at Kingston University , where they founded the THIS-IS-IT collective with some friends . They produced the first episode of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared in their spare time. After the short film gained popularity, they decided to revisit the idea. The Channel 4's Random Acts have commissioned the second episode.
