The Kingston University is a state university in London (district Kingston upon Thames ).

history

The university dates back to the Kingston Technical Institute founded in 1899 . In 1926 the institute was recognized as a Technical College . In 1930, the Kingston School of Art split from the Technical College and moved to Knights Park in 1939, where it was recognized as the College of Art in 1945. In 1957, the Ministry of Education recognized the Technical School as the Regional College of Technology.

In 1970 the College of Technology and the College of Art merged to form Kingston Polytechnic , and in 1975 Gipsy Hill College was integrated. In 1992 it was recognized as a university .

structure

The university is divided into four campuses: Penrhyn Road, Kingston Hill, Knights Park and Roehampton Vale, as well as five faculties . The Faculty of Art , Architecture and Design goes back to the early years and is located at Campus Knights Park. The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is primarily located on the Penrhyn Road campus. The School of Business Administration and Law is located on Kings Hill Campus. The Faculty of Health and Nursing Science and Education is based on a cooperation with St George's, University of London and has several locations. The youngest faculty is the Faculty of Natural and Engineering Sciences and Computer Science, founded in 2011 .
