The University of Plymouth is a public university founded in Plymouth , England in 1992 .

history

The University of Plymouth was founded as the Plymouth School of Navigation in 1862 and converted into a University College in 1920 . Since 1970 it had the status of a Polytechnic Institute . In 1992 this was merged with the teacher training college Rolle College , the Exeter College of Art and Design and other institutions to form the University of Plymouth .
