The Middlesex University is a university in Hendon , north of London , England . The university was created in 1973 through the merger of several higher education institutions and was named Middlesex University in 1992. The university is named after the former English county of Middlesex ("Middle Saxons").

Middlesex University is one of the largest universities in the UK , with nearly 40,000 students worldwide in London, Dubai, Malta, Mauritius and with a few academic partners and 1,900 employees.
The university has three locations in north London: Hendon , Enfield and Trent Park . The university also has a medical department with the teaching hospitals Royal Free Hospital ( Hampstead ), Whittington Hospital (together with University College London ), Chase Farm and North Middlesex Hospital.
Some of the locations are architecturally and historically very interesting, such as B. the Trent Park Campus located in a 4 km² park. The Cat Hill Campus is also home to the university's own Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture (MoDA).
In 2004, a campus was opened in Dubai as the international branch of Middlesex University , another in Mauritius in 2009 and an external campus in Malta since September 2013 . Distance learning (often in the local language) is also possible at Middlesex University through some international academic partners.
Middlesex University is one of the universities with the highest proportion of international students and has received three Queen's Anniversary Prize for Further and Higher Education .
