Anton Ranjith Pillainayagam

Anton Ranjith Pillainayagam (born September 23, 1966 in Jaffna ) is a Sri Lankan Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop in Colombo .

Life

Anton Ranjith Pillainayagam studied philosophy at St. Francis Xavier Major Seminary in Jaffna and Catholic theology at the seminary in Kandy . He also holds a degree in mathematics and a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Jaffna . Pillainayagam received at St. Lucia's Cathedral on 16 September 2000. Colombo , the sacrament of the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Colombo.

After his ordination, Anton Ranjith Pillainayagam first taught at St. Peter's College in Colombo. In 2004 Pillainayagam was sent to the UK for postgraduate studies , where he obtained a Masters in Education from Middlesex University in 2005 . From 2006 to 2007 Anton Ranjith Pillainayagam was a teacher at St. Sebastian's College in Moratuwa . He then taught at St. Joseph's College in Colombo. From 2012 to 2014 he was Vice Rector of St. Peter's College in Colombo. In 2014 Pillainayagam became Vice Rector of St. Joseph's College in Colombo.

On July 13, 2020 Pope appointed him Francis to the titular of Materiana and Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo. The Archbishop of Colombo, Albert Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith , donated him episcopal ordination on August 29 of the same year in St. Lucia's Cathedral in Colombo ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Badulla , Julian Winston Sebastian Fernando SSS , and the Bishop of Jaffna , Justin Bernard Gnanapragasam .
