The University of Roehampton is a public university in London .

history

The history of the University of Roehampton goes back to the 19th century. In 1841 the first of the four colleges , Whiteland College , was founded. This was followed by Southlands College (1872), Digby Stuart College (1874) and Froebel College (1892). In 1975 these four colleges merged to form the Roehampton Institute of Higher Education (RIHE). In 1984 it became part of the University of Surrey before declaring its independence as Roehampton University in 2004.
