The University of the West of Scotland is a university in the west and south-west of Scotland with campuses in Paisley , Ayr , Hamilton and Dumfries .

The university offers 100 undergraduate and postgraduate courses in all 7 faculties.

In the 2000s , the number of international students steadily increased (e.g. a 40% increase in Chinese students in the 2005/06 academic year), mainly due to partnerships with foreign universities.

history

It was founded in 1897 as Paisley Technical School , and since 1992 it has been known as the University of Paisley . On August 1, 2007, the University of Paisley merged with Bell College in Hamilton. On November 30, 2007, the name changed to "University of the West of Scotland" for the combined new higher education institution.
