Donington Castle

Donington Castle is an Outbound castle in the village of Castle Donington north of East Midlands Airport in the English county of Leicestershire .

The castle was built by the De Lacy family in the early 12th century . It was attacked in the time of the Magna Carta (around 1215). In 1311 it fell to Thomas Plantagenet, 2nd Earl of Lancaster , the cousin of King Edward II , and later came into the possession of the crown.

Any remains of the ruin were integrated into the construction of Donington House .
