Double contrast method

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The double contrast method is a specific x-ray technique for hollow organs. A particularly detailed representation of the organs is obtained . During the procedure, a radiopaque and a radiolucent contrast agent (CM) are used on the same organ.

Example of a double contrast method in the large intestine:

  • Discharge in preparation
  • transrectal catheter and administration of a contrast agent, e.g. B. iodine or barium preparation (single contrast exposure is now possible)
  • dosed air insufflation after the contrast medium has drained; there is a double-contrast image with a fine contrast coating of the intestinal wall
