Doromania

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Doromania (from ancient Greek δῶρον <doron> = “gift”, and μανία <maníā> = “frenzy, anger, madness”) describes a pathological behavior of giving excessive gifts . It is unclear how this behavior should be classified in the current classification systems for mental illnesses, such as ICD and DSM . For example, giving randomly is described as a possible symptom of mania . Similar difficulties are encountered in assigning excessive buying behavior, known as oniomania , to a disorder.

The term doromania should not be confused with doxomania , an addiction to fame that has risen to the point of anger. As Paradoxomanie is called the nerd addiction, attract attention by uttering unusual opinions.
