DotLRN (or .LRN , pronounced: "dot learn") is a free learning management system that is used at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the University of Mannheim (until 2009). The development is carried out today by the .LRN consortium. The MIT and the University of Mannheim were involved in the development.

Range of functions

  • Personalization (individual portal page, appointments, tasks, learning statistics, learning progress, notes, bookmarks, file storage)
  • Course contents: e-books / e-scripts, glossary, learning progress control, interactive sample exams, downloads
  • Course management: syllabus , current announcements, appointment management, FAQ
  • Communication: discussion forums, e-mail, feedback on teaching content
  • Teaching support: homework management, grade book, problem-based learning
