Dov Moran (* 1956 ) is an Israeli engineer, inventor and businessman.

Moran is a graduate of the Israel Technion University of Technology .

In 1989 he founded the company M-Systems . Among other things, this company developed the DiskOnKey and DiskOnChip memory technologies , which are essential components of flash memories .

When he tried to give a Powerpoint presentation to business friends, his notebook, on which the only copy of his presentation was saved, failed because it was too big for a floppy disk. This gave him the idea of ​​developing a storage medium that was small, robust and could store enough data. Based on this idea, he developed the USB stick with his company M-Systems and is therefore considered to be its inventor. In 2012 he was awarded the Eduard Rhein Prize for this.

At the end of 2006, M-Systems was sold to SanDisk Corp. for 1.6 billion US dollars . sold.

Today Dov Moran is the founder and chairman of modu. This company is working on the development of the modu , a modular mobile phone that can be used together with numerous additional devices (so-called jackets ) and which has been on the market in several countries since 2009.
