Drakes Bay

Drakes Bay on California's Pacific Coast

The Drakes Bay is a small Pacific Bay and is located northwest of San Francisco , California . On the north coast of the bay are Drake's Estero and Point Reyes National Seashore . The bay was named after Francis Drake because the bay resembles the descriptions of Drake and his crew on his circumnavigation .

Operating an oyster farm in the bay was controversial from 2006 to 2014 .

Another bay called Drake's Bay is also on the Osa Peninsula on the Pacific coast in southern Costa Rica.
