Three books of rites

Three books of rites ( Chinese  三 禮  /  三 礼 , Pinyin Sānlǐ ) is a collective Chinese term for the three books of rites Zhouli周礼, Yili仪礼 and Liji礼记. The term was first used by Zheng Xuan (127-200) during the Eastern Han Dynasty .

The Chinese term li (  /  , ) is used differently with ceremony, rite, ritual, etc. a. translated, yi (  /  , ) with ceremony, rite, etc.
