Three famous gardens in Japan

The Three Famous Gardens of Japan ( Japanese 日本 三名 園 Nihon Sanmeien ) are those that meet all the requirements for a perfect landscape garden according to the chronicles of the famous Luoyang Gardens , an ancient Chinese garden book by the poet Li Gefei:

  1. Spaciousness and seclusion,
  2. Craftsmanship and tradition,
  3. running water and panoramic views.

The Nihon Sanmeien are the Japanese convertible gardens :

1st: the Kenroku-en in Kanazawa
2nd: the Kōraku-en in Okayama
3rd: the Kairaku-en in Mito
