Third hand

Soldering aid with magnifying glass

A third hand is used, for example as a soldering or assembly aid, to fix a workpiece in just a few simple steps so that it can then be worked on with both hands, for example in precision mechanics, woodworking, welding or soldering in electronics .

The “third hand” known as a soldering aid (see illustration) consists of a stand on which several clamps are mounted, which hold the circuit board or other objects during the soldering work . In order to be able to work more precisely, a magnifying glass, possibly with additional electrical lighting, is often mounted on the rods.

Tools other than “third hands” include: a. the one-hand and quick- release clamp as well as the locking pliers .
