DriveImage XML also offers the option of backing up partitions to other computers via a network (LAN) or restoring them from remote computers. Images of partitions to be backed up can either be backed up directly or compressed using various methods. DriveImage XML divides the image files into files smaller than 2 GB by default, since various older file systems such as FAT16 do not allow files larger than 2 GB, but this setting can be used for CD-R (650 or 700 MB) or for more modern file systems higher limits, change. Drive Image XML also has the option of duplicating directly from drive to drive ( drive to drive ). In addition, the integrated browser offers the option of browsing through images and extracting files from them.
The individual backup functions (e.g. degree of compression ) are to be controlled via the corresponding command line parameters. DriveImage XML thus offers and supports the possibility of time-controlled and automated backup tasks using the Windows task scheduler.
Runtime software also offers corresponding plug-ins to integrate DriveImage XML into Live CDs (e.g. BartPE ) or USB boot sticks. In various bootable recovery CDs, such as UBCD4Win 3.60 is Drive Image XML already involved.
