history

Since 1933 the name has been used for the garments manufactured since 1898. A Scot named Le Roy who emigrated to Australia made canvas jackets for the sailors on the large sailing ships. He made these clothes waterproof with linseed oil .

Seafarers who took jobs on land, especially in agriculture, took these items of clothing with them. When it rains in Australia, it is heavy. This is how these jackets began their triumphant advance and, along with some other items of clothing such as hats and boots, are among the unique items in the Australian clothing industry. The design has only changed moderately over the decades towards riding clothing. Today the company not only produces the famous riding coats , but also a variety of other items of clothing.

The combination of a Driza bone coat with an Akubra hat is considered to be the quintessence of the Australian outback , where it is worn by the stockmen in rainy seasons .
