history
The school was founded in 1908 as an all-girls school called the Municipal Middle School for Girls . The classrooms were in Dortmund-Mitte on Goldstrasse. In 1933 it was named after the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff . Then until 1972 was taught in the district of Marten . The old building is now a museum, the Westphalian School Museum . Boys have only been taught since 1972. In 1973 the company moved to the school center in Kirchlinde . More girls are now going to school than boys.
In 2004 a major renovation began with the aim of modernizing the classrooms and removing sealing material contaminated with PCBs . The renovation was completed in early 2006. During the work, the lessons took place in containers that were put together to form a container village on behalf of the city of Dortmund.
General
The Droste-Hülshoff-Realschule is located in the "Kirchlinde School Center". The school newspaper Das haut rein! Was published every three months until 2012 . with an edition of about 100 copies. The school newspaper “Number 5” has been published every six months since June 2012. The school library is in the hands of parents, who lend books, CDs, DVDs and computer games on almost 100 square meters. The school has had its own school kiosk since spring 2006. It was made possible by the renovation. Until then, the kiosk of the neighboring high school had to be used.
Classrooms
The newly renovated classrooms are spread over three floors. The auditorium and gymnasium, which are also used by sports clubs, are located in the building of the Bert-Brecht-Gymnasium and are shared with it.
Awards
The school's dispute settlement work has received several awards. Since the beginning of 2007 the school has been a “ school without racism - school with courage ”.
