René Renno (born February 19, 1979 in East Berlin ) is a former German soccer player and current coach.
Career as a player
Renno began playing football as a goalkeeper at SV Norden-Nordwest in Berlin . From 1990 to 1998 he went through the age groups in the youth department of Hertha BSC .
From 1998 to 2000 - in the meantime moved up to the amateur team and equipped with a professional contract - after 68 games in the 1999/2000 season, he was promoted to the then third-class Regionalliga Nordost .
After he had played 32 point games for Tennis Borussia Berlin in the third-class Regionalliga Nord in the 2000/01 season and the club had to be relegated as the last place, he moved to SG Wattenscheid 09 within the league , for which he played a total of 47 point games until the end of the 2002/03 season denied. In the following season he came four times for Rot-Weiss Essen to point games and promotion to 32 second division games. With the relegation of his club at the end of the season, he moved to the Bundesliga relegated VfL Bochum , with whom he helped achieve the return to the top German division and played eleven Bundesliga games by the end of the 2008/09 season . He made his debut on November 4, 2007 (12th matchday) in a 5-3 home win against VfL Wolfsburg .
From 2010 to 2014 he played 27 point games in the 2nd Bundesliga and from 2014 to 2016 17 point games in the 3rd division for Energie Cottbus . During this time he was honored with the “Energy Player of the Year 2015” award. After the end of his active football career, he stayed with the club as a consultant.
Career as a coach
From July 2018 Renno worked as an assistant trainer for Energie Cottbus under Claus-Dieter Wollitz . When Wollitz moved to 1. FC Magdeburg in January 2020 , Renno also became his assistant coach there.
