The dubitative (from the Latin dubium “doubt” or dubitare “to doubt”) is a grammatical mode that suggests , for example, second-hand statements or hearsay in Turkish (as in: “In the south it is supposedly / probably very hot . "). In question forms, the dubitative presents alternatives (as in: "Should we (not) leave it?"); this construction occurs, for example, in Latin as the subjunctive of the request.
