Dulia

Dulia ( also “Dulie”, v. Greek: δουλεία, douleia ), Latin servitus , is the theological term for the worship of saints in the church. The Dulia is fundamentally to be distinguished from the - only God belonging - Latrie , the adoration. Within the Dulia there is still (more or less a higher level, but in no way comparable to the Latria) the so-called Hyperdulia ("high veneration"), which belongs exclusively to the Virgin Mary . Some theologians led for their bridegroom, St. Joseph , an intermediate stage, called Protodulia ("first worship"), but this distinction has by no means been adopted into the terminology as generally as the Hyperdulia.
