Dullahan

The term Dullahan (in Irish also Gan Ceann , in German "headless") comes from Irish mythology and describes a kind of evil creature that appears as a headless rider or a headless knight . They are mostly fallen soldiers and heroes who live on as a ghost in the form of a headless rider. They often carry their head under their arm. Armed with armor, shield and sword, the Dullahan is to be interpreted as an omen of death in most mythological legends. Dullahan are mostly represented as male beings, but can also be female.
