Duncraig Castle is a country house on the south bank of Loch Carron , about 1 km east of the village of Plockton in the Scottish administrative division of Highland . Alexander Matheson , a Scottish businessman and member of parliament, had it built in 1866 in the Scottish Baronial Style according to plans by the architect Alexander Ross .

The country house is accessible through the Duncraig train station on the Kyle of Lochalsh Line . The train station was opened as a private train station in 1897, but is now in public use.

Duncraig Castle was bequeathed to the Ross and Cromarty County Council and became a college of housekeeping after World War II . Today it is a luxury pension.
