Transparency scanner

Flatbed scanner with transparency unit

The transmitted light scanner is a scanner in which the light is not radiated against the surface to be scanned, as is usually the case with commercially available flatbed scanners and drum scanners . Here the light is passed through the medium, the process is therefore only suitable for translucent media such as slides, negative films, x-rays, transparencies and the like. A slide scanner is, for example, a transmitted light scanner that is now quite common . Transparency attachments are offered as accessories for some flatbed scanners. They are used to scan large format films and negatives, such as X-rays .
