E-skills

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

e-Skills describe competencies that people and / or companies need in order to be competitive within a global information economy .

The term found widespread use thanks to the initiative of the EU Commission , which aims to counter the impending shortage of IT specialists and to transform Europe into a knowledge society within the framework of the Lisbon Strategy .

The term can also be found in the context of discussions and statements on media literacy . In 2005, a process-oriented model was published in Austria. The central aspect is that the term e-skills should not be used as a synonym for it-skills.

The e-Skills Industry Leadership Board is a separate initiative by companies in the IT and communication technology sector.

The European e-Competence Framework provides a frame of reference for 32 competencies for interested parties as well as companies working in the relevant industries in Europe, which was developed by a CEN / ISSS workshop on ICT skills .
