Famous campaigns

The foundation gained national attention through its campaign “Zaragoza, water-saving city”. It started in 1997 with the aim of promoting a new understanding of how to handle water and improving water management. The importance of small technological tools in reducing the water consumption of the city of Zaragoza was highlighted. The challenge Zaragoza was to face was to reduce its water consumption by 1,000 million liters in one year. By increasing the efficiency of consumption, one could quickly and sustainably help alleviate the water shortage. This campaign required partnerships with local and national governments as well as with the European Union.

Partnerships and collaborations

ECODES has numerous partnerships and is a member of various networks and coalitions such as the “Coalición Clima” and the “Alianza por el Aqua”. Ecology and Development is also a member of the Spanish Foundation Association (La Asociación Española de Fundaciones).
