Censimento nazionale delle edizioni italiane del XVI secolo

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Censimento nazionale delle edizioni italiane del XVI secolo (in German national inventory of the Italian editions of the 16th century ), abbreviated EDIT 16 , is the retrospective national bibliography of Italy for the publication period from 1501 to 1600. The catalog records titles that were based on that period were printed in every language on Italian soil, and editions published abroad in Italian. EDIT 16 is not just a metacatalog that virtually bundles existing directories; Instead, every printed work is personally inspected and indexed by librarians using the autopsy principle . The data record can be searched for title, author, publisher and printer's reference, which in turn are fanned out into numerous other search fields.

EDIT 16 contains 68,480 different titles and around 25,650 authors, 5,700 printers and publishers, 2,590 printer characters and access to 65,900 images (as of September 2018). At the end of the bibliography, a total of 80,000 titles is expected. 1,586 libraries are involved in collecting the data, including the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana , the British Library and the Geneva Barbier-Mueller Foundation pour l'étude de la poésie italienne de la Renaissance .
