European Federation of Chemical Engineering

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Federation for Chemical Engineering (EFCE) also known as Fédération Européenne du Génie Chimique or European Federation of Chemical Engineering is an amalgamation of professional associations in Europe that deal with chemical process engineering .

history

The EFCE was founded on June 20, 1953 in Paris . The founding members include 18 companies from eight different European countries.

With India recorded the first non-European member in the 1956th In 1966 , the former Czechoslovakia became the first Eastern European country to become a member of the Federation.

Since November 2016, the number of member companies has grown to 38. These come from 29 countries (some countries have more than one member society). In addition, 162,000 freelance chemical engineers had joined EFCE by this time .

Structure and work

Overall, the EFCE consists of 20 working groups and 5 specialist groups. These are made up of around 1000 industrial and academic experts from various subject areas. This will facilitate progress in the respective subject areas and international cooperation.

For example, the Education Working Group successfully published documents on the Bologna Process . The working group for the characterization of particle systems (ChOPS) works closely with the responsible authorities and analyzes the influence of particles in combination with challenges such as the exhaust scandal .

The secretariat is jointly managed by IChemE (UK) and DECHEMA eV . (Germany) and Société Française de Génie des Procédés (France). The current President (January 1, 2018 -) is Dr. Hermann J. Feise from BASF .

The Federation's information is published regularly by the journal Chemical Engineering Research and Design.

The official EFCE meetings usually take place alongside the European congresses ECCE and CHISA.

In addition, the EFCE Pass program gives members some benefits. These can be used especially for conferences and trips abroad.
