The EN 60601-2-41 with the title "Medical electrical equipment - Part 2-41: Special stipulations for the safety of surgical lights and examination lights" is part of the EN 60601 series of standards .

The German Institute for Standardization is the publisher of the DIN standard DIN EN 60601-2-41 .

The standard is based on the international version IEC 60601-2-41. Within the framework of the VDE standards, the standard is classified as VDE 0750-2-41 , see DIN-VDE standards part 7 .

This supplementary standard regulates general specifications for the safety, tests and guidelines for operating and examination lights. The purpose is to describe features of the basic safety as well as tests and to give additional instructions for their application.

The German edition 11.2001 has been accepted as a German standard from the date of its publication .

  • The current version (11.2001) is to be used in accordance with the 2nd edition of DIN EN 60601-1 .
  • In April 2007, a draft for corresponding use was published with the 3rd edition of DIN EN 60601-1.

scope of application

These special stipulations characterize the safety requirements for surgical lights and examination lights.

This standard does not apply to:

  • Head lights,
  • Endoscopes , laparoscopes and their light sources, which are dealt with in EN 60601-2-18 ,
  • Luminaires for dental treatment, which are dealt with in ISO 9680,
  • Luminaires for general lighting, which are dealt with in IEC 60598-2-1 and IEC 60598-2-4,
  • Luminaires for emergency lighting, which are dealt with in IEC 60598-2-22.

Note: Other lights intended for use in the clinical area of ​​hospitals are dealt with in IEC 60598-2-25.
