The EN 60601-2-52 with the title "Part 2-52: Special stipulations for the safety including the essential performance characteristics of medical beds" is part of the EN 60601 series of standards .

The DIN standard DIN EN 60601-2-52 is published by the German Institute for Standardization .

The standard is based on the international version IEC 60601-2-52. Within the framework of the VDE standards, the standard is classified as VDE 0750-2-52 , see DIN-VDE standards part 7 .

This supplementary standard regulates general requirements for the safety, tests and guidelines of medical beds . The purpose is to describe the features of basic safety, the essential performance features and tests and also to provide instructions for their application.

  • DIN EN 60601-2-52 is a replacement for DIN EN 60601-2-38 : 2001-07, which was withdrawn when it appeared .
  • The final version of the standard is to be used in accordance with the 3rd edition of DIN EN 60601-1 .

scope of application

This International Standard applies to the basic safety and essential performance characteristics of adult medical beds.

Hazards caused by the intended physiological function of medical beds or systems within the scope of this standard are not covered by special requirements in this standard. This standard can also be applied to medical beds used for the compensation or alleviation of illness, injury or disability.
