Earl Smith

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Earl Smith is an American country / rock and roll musician.

Life

Smith recorded a single in 1962 on the regional Lovelady label from Walnut Ridge , Arkansas . On the A side was Black River Bay and on the B side was Silly Quarrel . Both songs were composed by Iva Sue Lovelady, the owner of Lovelady Records. Smith was accompanied on these recordings by the Night Cappers, which consisted of lead guitar, bass and drums.

The single was released in late 1962 and is a mix of rock and roll and country. While the guitarist was heavily influenced by the guitar style of the 1950s, Smith sang in a nasal, country-like manner.

Earl Smith then disappeared from the music scene. Black River Bay , for example, was re-released in 1980 on the White Label LP Rock from Arkansas . The original record is very seldom to be found today and therefore reaches high prices with collectors.
