Earl of Beverley

Earl of Beverley , in the County of York , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Great Britain .

Award

The title was created on November 2, 1790 for Algernon Percy, 2nd Baron Lovaine . He was the second-born son of Hugh Percy, 1st Duke of Northumberland and had inherited the title of Baron Lovaine , of Alnwick in the County of Northumberland , which was bestowed on him on January 28, 1784 with a special inheritance regulation in favor of Algernons.

After the line of descendants of the older brother of the 1st Earl died out, his son, the 2nd Earl, inherited the title Duke of Northumberland along with subordinate titles. The earldom has since been a subordinate title of the respective duke.
