Peerage of Great Britain
The Peerage of Great Britain includes all peer dignities that were created in the Kingdom of Great Britain under the Act of Union 1707 through the Act of Union 1800 . The Peerage of Great-Britain thus replaced the Peerage of England and the Peerage of Scotland until it was itself replaced by the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1801 .
Until the House of Lords Act was passed in 1999 , all peers had a seat in the House of Lords . The ranks of the British peerage are Duke , Marquess , Earl , Viscount and Baron .
The following table of currently existing British peers lists higher or equivalent titles in other peerages.
