Marquess of Anglesey
Marquess of Anglesey ( Welsh : Ardalydd Môn ) is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom , named after the island of Anglesey .
The Marquesses' family residence was formerly Beaudesert Hall at Cannock Chase in Staffordshire and is now Plas Newydd in Llanfairpwll in Anglesey.
Award and subordinate titles
The title was awarded on July 4, 1815 to Henry Paget, 2nd Earl of Uxbridge , who commanded the British cavalry at the Battle of Waterloo . From his father he had in 1812 the title Earl of Uxbridge , in the County of Middlesex , awarded to him on September 19, 1784 in the Peerage of Great Britain , and the title 11th Baron Paget , of England, created on January 23, 1553 in the Peerage of England Beaudesert in the County of Stafford, and in 1730 in the Baronetage of Ireland created title 4. Bayly Baronet , of Plas Newydd in the County of Anglesey and of Mount Bagenall in the County of Louth , inherited.
His son, who later became the 2nd Marquess, was inherited the subordinate title of his father Baron Paget early on January 15, 1833 by a special royal resolution ( Writ of Acceleration ) in order to appoint him early to the House of Lords .
The eldest son of the Marquess leads as a probable title heir ( Heir apparent ) the courtesy title Earl of Uxbridge .
