Charles Alexander Vaughan Paget, 8th Marquess of Anglesey (born November 13, 1950 ) is a British nobleman . His courtesy title from 1950 to 2013 was Earl of Uxbridge .

Life

Charles Paget is the son of George Paget, 7th Marquess of Anglesey (1922-2013). His mother was Elizabeth Shirley Vaughan Morgan (1924-2017), the daughter of the writer Charles Langbridge Morgan (1894-1958). He studied at Exeter College of Oxford University and graduated with a Master of Arts (MA) from. He then received his PhD from Sussex University in Brighton and obtained the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), in English-speaking countries the scientific doctorate and the highest degree of postgraduate studies . Paget is thus entitled to teach independently and under sole responsibility at a university.

Charles Paget married Georgeanne Elizabeth Elliott Downes in 1986. They have two children together:

  • Benedict Dashiel Thomas Paget (* 1986)
  • Clara Elizabeth Iris Paget (* 1988)

His daughter Clara Paget works as an actress and model . In 2011 the Paget couple divorced. In 2013 Charles Paget's father passed away and he inherited the title of Marquess of Anglesey and all subordinate titles. The heir ( Heir apparent ) is currently his son Benedict Paget, who therefore the courtesy title Earl of Uxbridge carries. In 2015, Charles Paget remarried. His wife became Susan Blanche Louise de Paolis.

The family home at Plas Newydd on Anglesey , Wales , has been in the hands of the National Trust for a long time , but the family owns the right to live on the upper floor. The former private rooms of the Pagets on the lower floors are open to the public.
