Marquess Camden
Marquess Camden is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
The Marquesses' family residence was Bayham Abbey Estate near Tonbridge in Kent until the early 1980s and is now Wherwell House near Andover in Hampshire .
Award and subordinate titles
The title was bestowed on September 7, 1812, to John Pratt, 2nd Earl Camden , along with the subordinate title of Earl of the County of Brecknock , both in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. From his father in 1794 he had the title Baron Camden , of Camden Place in the County of Kent, bestowed on him on July 17, 1765 , and the titles of Earl Camden and Viscount Bayham , of Bayham Abbey in the County of, bestowed on him on May 13, 1786 Kent inherited, all of which belong to the Peerage of Great Britain and have since been subordinate titles of Marquess.
His son, who later became the 2nd Marquess, was inherited the subordinate title of his father Baron Camden prematurely on January 8, 1835 by a special royal resolution ( Writ of Acceleration ) in order to appoint him early to the House of Lords .
The Marquess's eldest son bears the title of courtesy Earl of Brecknock as heir apparent , and his eldest son that of Viscount Bayham .
