Baron Hawke
Baron Hawke , of Towton in the County of York , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Great Britain .
Award
The title was created on May 20, 1776 for the famous Admiral Sir Edward Hawke . He had defeated the French fleet in several naval battles, was First Lord of the Admiralty from 1766 to 1771 and was a member of the House of Commons from 1747 to 1776 .
