Marquess of Bath
Marquess of Bath , in the County of Somerset , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Great Britain led by the head of the Thynne family .
Award
The title was created on August 18, 1789 for Thomas Thynne, 3rd Viscount Weymouth .
Subordinate title
He had in 1751 from his father the title Viscount Weymouth , in the County of Dorset and Baron Thynne , of Warminster in the County of Wilts , inherited that in the December 11, 1682 Peerage of England for Sir Thomas Thynne, 2nd Baronet created had been; also the title of Baronet , of Cause Castle in the County of Salop , which was created on July 15, 1641 in the Baronetage of England. The titles have since been listed as subordinate titles to the Marquess of Bath. His title heir ( Heir apparent ) carries the courtesy title Viscount Weymouth .
