Warminster is a place in the county of Wiltshire in the southwest of Great Britain , about 120 kilometers southwest of the capital London . The Were River flows through the city . Warminster had about 17,000 inhabitants in 2011. The current mayor is Andrew Davis . In Warminster there is a large boarding school, the Warminster School , which is internationally oriented.
Warminster is very popular as a tourist destination due to its location in nature. There are many leisure activities for tourists as well as hotels, farms and bars. The town is bypassed in the south by the A36 bypass.
Hillfort Battlesbury Camp is east of Warminster .
