The A36 road ( English for road A38 ) is a 192 km long, almost continuously designated as primary route road in England, which leads from Bath to Southampton .

The A36 begins west of Bath on the A4 road and runs east through Bath, then swings south following the River Avon and passes Beckington , where it crosses the A361 road , and south past Warminster , then follows the River Wylye in an east- south- east direction to Wilton , from there it runs to Salisbury together with the A30 road , but separates there again from this and continues to the southeast. At Whiteparish the A27 road branches off to the east, while the A36 goes straight, thereby the M27 motorwaycrossing, goes straight towards Southampton where it ends on the A35 road .
