Award and history of the title
The title was created on September 5, 1788 for former House of Commons and Lord Lieutenant of Essex John Griffin, 4th Baron Howard de Walden . The title was awarded with the special addition that, in the absence of male offspring, it could also be passed on to his relative Richard Aldworth-Neville . As early as 1784, he had been awarded the title Baron Howard de Walden, awarded in the Peerage of England in 1597 . At his death in 1797 this title fell in Abeyance , the Barony of Braybrooke fell according to the special note to Richard Aldworth-Neville as 2nd Baron, who changed his surname to "Griffin" two months later.
Today's title holder is his descendant Robin Neville as the 10th Baron.
