Award of subordinate and other titles

The title was created on November 2, 1911 for the conservative politician and former Viceroy of India George Curzon, 1st Baron Curzon of Kedleston . At the same time he was given the titles of Earl Curzon of Kedleston , of Kedleston in the County of Derby, and Baron Ravensdale , of Ravensdale in the County of Derby. Since he had no sons but three daughters, he was awarded the Viscountcy with the special note that the title would also be given to his brothers and their male offspring in the absence of his own male descendants, and the Barony of Ravensdale with the special note that this title in the absence of his own male offspring, he can also inherit his daughters and their male offspring.

As early as November 11, 1898, he was awarded the title Baron Curzon of Kedleston , of Kedleston in the County of Derby, in the Peerage of Ireland . In 1916, when his father died, he inherited the titles of 5th Baron Scarsdale , of Scarsdale in the County of Derby, and 9th Baronet , of Kedleston in the County of Derby. The former was in on 9 April 1761 Peerage of Great Britain for his ancestors, the long-term lower house -Abgeordneten Sir Nathaniel Curzon, 5th Baronet been created. The latter was created twice, namely on June 18, 1636 in the Baronetage of Nova Scotia and on August 11, 1641 in the Baronetage of England for his ancestor John Curzon .

On June 28, 1921, he was also raised to Marquess Curzon of Kedleston .

When the Marquess died on March 20, 1925 without sons, the Viscountcy and Barony of Scarsdale and the Baronetcies fell to his nephew Richard Curzon, 2nd Viscount Scarsdale , the Barony of Ravensdale fell to his eldest daughter Mary Irene and all other titles were extinguished.

Today's title holder is Peter Curzon as the 4th Viscount. This has so far not formally proven his claim to the two baronetcies, which means that they are suspended.
