Baron Vere
Baron Vere is a hereditary British title of nobility awarded twice in the Peerage of England and once in the Peerage of Great Britain .
Awards
The title was first created on February 6, 1299 in the Peerage of England for Hugh de Vere , the younger son of the 5th Earl of Oxford , when he was called to the Royal Parliament by Writ of Summons . When he died childless around 1319, the title expired.
In the second bestowal, the title of Baron Vere , of Tilbury , was newly created on July 24, 1625 by letters patent in the Peerage of England for the general Sir Horace Vere , a grandson of the 15th Earl of Oxford . Since he had no sons, the title expired on his death on May 2, 1635.
In the third award, the title of Baron Vere , of Hanworth in the County of Middlesex , was bestowed on March 28, 1750 in the Peerage of Great Britain to the Admiral Lord Vere Beauclerk . This was a younger son of Charles Beauclerk, 1st Duke of St Albans . His son Aubrey, the 2nd Baron, inherited the title of 5th Duke of St. Albans in 1787 , along with a subordinate title. The Barony Vere has since been a subordinate title of the respective duke.
Baroness Vere of Norbiton
On August 30, 2016, the title Baroness Vere of Norbiton , of Norbiton in the Royal London Borough of Kingston upon Thames , was created as a life peerage in the Peerage of the United Kingdom for the conservative politician Charlotte Vere .
